Asking for Trouble by Elizabeth Young
Chick Lit
Call#: F Young
Also released as The Wedding Date after its disappointing film adaptation in 2005, Young's book describes Sophy Metcalfe's dilemma when she hires a flesh-and-blood version of her "pretend" boyfriend to accompany her to her sister's wedding. Funny misunderstandings and false assumptions plague our hero and heroine's relationship, culminating in a very satisfying ending. Even if you despised the movie, you'll enjoy the book, which bears little resemblance to its cinematic counterpart.

Little Pink Slips by Sally Koslow
Chick Lit
Call#: F Koslow
Not really chick lit, not really a romance, not really a biography. The author was an editor at McCall's when it was turned into "Rosie", and endured all the headaches and problems that went with that. The heroine experiences similar problems when her magazine is taken over by a talk show host, she is demoted, and then made redundant. Koslow writes a fast read, pulling the reader into the magazine scene in NYC, and how it pays to keep track of everything.

Real Vampires Have Curves by Gerry Bartlett
Chick Lit
Call#: F Bartlett
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were fun, the sex is steamy but not tacky, and the clothes are vintage. Glory is a full figured vampire who has been around. Now she is opening her own vintage clothing store (vampires in addition to having incredibly good taste are also pack rats). But things get complicated when high tech vampire hunters, old lovers and new interests get involved.
